Today I am sharing the gorgeous story and pictures of Shiona and Chris's vintage inspired wedding. Unfortunately I wasn't available to create Shionas gown but we kept in touch throughout her wedding planning and she has kindly shared her day for everyone to have a little inspiration.
Shiona and Chris's Story:
"Chris and I have been together for nearly 6 years when we married. We met during our university years and become solid friends. Over time, we realised how we felt for each other."
The proposal:
"Chris proposed to me at Stirling Castle in Scotland in Sept 2010. I went back to visit some friends in Glasgow (where Chris and I lived for a while) and he completely surprised me by flying over without my knowing and proposing on the castle wall. It was amazing. "
Their wedding day:
"We got married at Elmswood Estate in the beautiful Yarra Valley. It is a very special place to us and we couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. The view alone was completely worth it. So, just after a year after he proposed, we married on 2nd October 2011. Our love of vintage and all things old with a story - shaped our whole day. It was a wonderful day - a small intimate party of about 40 with our closest friends and family by our side. We couldn't have asked for a better day."
"Vintage suitcases, vintage crates, vintage jars and vases, vintage photographs, flowers, pearls, vintage cameras, vintage buttons, vintage keys and travel tags (used as seating tags and handstamped with stamps customised on Etsy using a vintage typewriter font) decorated the permanent glass marquee where our reception was held. It overlooked the vines and the valley and the ceiling was covered in fairy lights and vintage lace bunting (purchased on Etsy). Each guest had a customised menu and wine list (in typewriter font) wrapped in lace and small travel tags as well as a glass jar full of candy. We also served a candy parlour where vintage style jars were filled with black, white and red lollies where our guests could help themselves. A massive dance floor in the middle of the marquee kept us occupied throughout the night we danced into the night."
Shiona and Chris's fabulous vendors:
Photographer: Tizia May Photography
Stationary: La D'vine Invites, menu plans and thank you cards - Marie was phenomenal and helped us design our our stationary that fitted in with our vintage charmed day. Dress: Bertossi Brides - couture 1940/1950's style ivory french lace strapless full length dress with a vintage brooch detail to one side with a 1950's style french lace bolero and 1950's birdcage veil (made with matching french lace). Anne and Gil from Bertossi were exceptional and helped me select the best dress to suit my vintage style and body type. The dress was amazing. I had so many compliments and I felt a bit like an old hollywood movie star in it (which I loved).
