Melbourne Cup Dress

With Melbourne Cup rapidly approaching I have a babysitter sorted and my partner in crime and I are busy planning the event of the year for us.  Sadly she is one step ahead of me - all organised with an outfit - but I am proud to announce I have finally made my decision and have ordered fabric.  I will be creating my Ava dress (seen below) in emerald green with black contrast inserts on the bust and either a black sash or black velvet ribbon around the waist - I'll just play around and see which I prefer the most.  For the skirt of the dress I'll shorten it to just below the knee and make it a little less full.

The emerald green I will be using

Then for my hair I will create a hairpiece of 3 rolled roses that gives an almost vintage cocktail hat look.  I created these for a recent bride in ivory for her and a watermelon shade for her bridesmaids.

If time permits I may create a cute little black bolero to match but I have to get a couple of gowns done first and then see what I can slot in.
